The Victorian State Government has just announced the release of their new Young Farmer Scholarships, encouraging the next generation to consider a career in agriculture.
Scholarships are available to help young farmers boost their skills and equip themselves for farming challenges of the future.
Minister for Agriculture Jaala Pulford said “Our young farmers are the leaders of tomorrow and with the right support and encouragement, I am confident Victorian agriculture is in the right hands.
“By supporting the development of young farmers we are investing not just in the growth of the agriculture sector but in the future of regional Victoria.”
Up to $10,000 is available to farmers and farm workers aged 35 years or under, with 25 young people across regional Victoria already having taken up the offer.
The funding consists of up to $5,000 for study, backed by a further $5,000 to invest on-farm or in professional development activities to help put new skills into practice.
Examples of eligible courses include a Diploma in Agriculture, human resources training, business management courses, a Diploma of Agribusiness Management and a range of on-farm technical training.
Applications for the Young Farmers Scholarship Program are now open and will close on August 30 of this year.
