Police have reported a man after he was caught driving a heavy vehicle while fatigued near Ceduna yesterday.
At about 2pm on Wednesday 14 December, police received reports of a truck continually swerving over the centre line on the Eyre Highway.
Highway Patrols located the road train on the Eyre Highway about 35km east of Ceduna and observed it swerve over the centre lane on several occasions and on one occasion, the road train was seen to travel for about 100m on the incorrect side of the highway.
Police stopped the driver and will allege he was extremely fatigued.
The 55-year-old from Maddington in Western Australia was reported for driving a heavy vehicle while impaired by fatigue and issued with a cease work notice for seven hours. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
Given the busy time on our country roads with harvest and Christmas, drivers of all types of vehicles are encouraged to take regular rest breaks and have good sleep breaks before driving and to report similar incidences to police.
