Iraqi forces have made rapid progress in taking western Mosul since they started the offensive three days ago.
Special Forces are now on the edge of the airport having captured the hill of AlbuSaif which overlooks the airport.
There are reports that ISIS fighters are leaving Mosul and travelling to Raqqa in Syria for a final stand.
Some reports say that there are only two or three thousand IS fighters remaining in western Mosul but they have co-opted locals to use as human shields.
Shia militias are moving to close off the road to Raqqa to prevent the escape of any more ISIS jihadists.
It will take at least three months for the Iraqi army to recapture western Mosul but the big question is what will happen then.
