Police are investigating the death of a man at Ocean Grove this afternoon. Emergency services were called to reports of a swimmer in distress at the beach about 3pm this afternoon. The man, believed to be in his 50s and from Reservoir, was pulled from the water yet died at the scene. Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
This death comes amid numerous deaths across New South Wales beaches this summer and the public is reminded to not swim alone or outside of designated areas. The National Coastal Safety Report recently revealed a 24 per cent increase in coastal deaths in Australia.
