Sprouting New Cooks Across Goyder Region

New cooking skills were sprouted last weekend, as 17 young people from across SA’s Goyder region were given the chance to attend a hands-on team cooking class at Sprout Cooking School.

Sprout Cooking School is run by ex-Masterchef contestant and television presenter, Callum Hann and dietitian and health professional, Themis Chryssidis.

All participants were encouraged to get their hands dirty and prepare healthy fresh meals they could easily recreate at home.

Participant and Goyder YAC president, Bethany Jones commented on the cooking school saying, “It was a fun and inclusive event for young people of varying ages and cooking abilities.

“We tried healthy recipes, learnt new skills, and made new friends,” she said.

The event was made possible by Goyder YAC and the Office For Youth, as it tied in with this year’s National Youth Week theme of “youTHRIVE” highlighting the importance of young people’s physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being.

Goyder YAC is focused on establishing an active role for youth in the Goyder region by offering activities for young people in the area.

They currently have 15 members, and meet bi-monthly, alternating between Burra and Eudunda.
