Vehicle registration transfers and notices of vehicle sales are just two of the services that will now be available online through Service SA, following an amendment in State Parliament.
These new online options via EzyReg will continue in conjunction with the existing paper form methods, with the government predicting an extra half a million transactions to be made online annually.
Member for Flinders Peter Treloar strongly lobbied for the online shift, with the hope changes would benefit people living in regional areas.
“People who live in communities in the north-east, as far as Darke Peak, and who live in the north‑west, as far as Ceduna and beyond…have up until now had to drive all the way to [Service SA in] Port Lincoln, and that is 550 kilometres one way from Coorabie.
“It is a 1,100‑kilometre round trip to register your car…and imagine if you forgot one of the pieces of paperwork.
“You can imagine the frustration of some of my constituents,” he said in State Parliament earlier this week.
Mr Treloar joined Anita on the Regional Roundup for the full story.
Victoria’s VicRoads service continues to have some online services such as renewing registration or your license.
