School leavers looking to pursue a career in agriculture are being encouraged to apply for Rural Bank’s 2017 Scholarship.

Nine tertiary scholarships, each valued at $5,000 dollars, are on offer by Rural Bank to support first year university students with the cost of accommodation, course materials, equipment and tutoring.

Managing Director and CEO of Rural Bank, Alexandra Gartmann, said the Australian farming sector is dependent on the next generation of of rural leaders, who need the support of the industry.

“For rural, regional and remote students, there are often challenges associated with accessing tertiary education.
“We are proud to help remove some of these challenges and foster this important pool of talent, which is spread right across the country,” she said.
The scholarships have previously supported 160 students over 25 years, allowing these young people to go on and pursue a successful and rewarding career in agriculture.
Applications for the scholarship are open until 27 January 2017, and can be accessed online:
