More Men’s Sheds will be developed around Victoria, following an $879,000 investment from the State Government.
The 2017-18 Men’s Sheds Grants Program, announced on Wednesday, will allow communities to provide a space for men to meet, reconnect and contribute to local communities.
Grants of up to $60,000 are available for communities to build a new shed, or up to $30,000 to refurbish an existing shed.
Over 350 men’s sheds are currently in operation around Victoria, allowing men to participate locally and interact through activities such as doing house repairs and maintenance work for pensioners.
Minister for Families and Children Jenny Mikakos said men’s sheds play a vital role in supporting and enhancing the well-being of men around Victoria.
“This funding will help more men to work together locally and provide valuable services to their community,” she said.
These grants come as an addition to the already existing $1 million State Government funding through the Men’s Shed program.
