Organisers of the Mallee Root Festival have had their work cut out for them after a turn of events, with the following statement explaining all:
“The Mallee Root Festival to be held in Ouyen on the 25th March has taken and unexpected twist with the committee fielding hundreds of enquiries from singles from across the nation who due to the ambiguous name of the event assumed the festival was a chance to meet and greet unattached locals.
Event spokesperson Ty Moloney said “Although the committee was shocked by the initial response on social media we have decided to embrace the interest and encourage singles of all ages to attend the event and showcase what the Mallee has to offer, which on the weekend includes the Victorian Yard Sheepdog trials at Patchewollock and the Ouyen Cup harness racing on Sunday”.
There will be no shortage of entertainment at the event with children’s activities, market stalls, root tossing, world class magician Waldo the Great, live music and of course the Guinness Book of Records measure off to determine the world’s biggest Mallee Root.
The Mallee Root Festival is a FREE event and people wanting to show their support for the festival are encouraged to make a donation and receive an engraved ear tag which entitles them to be involved in the ten ROOTLOTTO draws Saturday night.”
