Country music singer-songwriter Chelsea Basham has been named Country Music Channel’s (CMC) Female Artist of the Year.
Her 2013 album ‘I Make My Own Sunshine’ was widely received by audiences, producing three hit singles, a Golden Guitar Award, an APRA award nomination and was acclaimed by Fairfax’s exacting music critic Bernard Zuel as “genuinely soulful country”.
Her follow up album ‘Youngest’ has produced three hit singles to date, including ‘Youngest We’ll Ever Be’ – which can often be heard on Flow FM.
Chelsea spoke to Anita on the Country Viewpoint about her win and how she’s managed to connect with audiences through her music.
When asked about the inspiration for her songs, Chelsea told Flow FM events happening in her life at the time influence her songs, describing each as a “diary entry”.
