The Victorian State Government is allocating $1 million to developing a Regional and Rural Council Sustainability program.
The program which aims to strengthen local governments in regional areas was announced by Minister Natalie Hutchins at the Rural Councils Victoria conference yesterday.
“This is just one of many ways we are supporting community needs right across rural Victoria in this Budget,” she said.
The budget investment aims to develop the program in cooperation with rural and regional councils, in order to help relieve external financial and structural pressures.
Complementing the program is the already implemented Living Libraries Infrastructure Program, Municipal Emergency Resourcing Program and Finance and Accounting Support Team (FAST) initiative.
